Eimskip acquires Pacific Tramper Services Inc in Seattle
Eimskip, a subsidiary of Avion Group, has acquired a 100% share in the transportation company Pacific Tramper Services, Inc. (PTI) from November 1st.
PTI has been leading in reefer tramping service for frozen fish in remote Alaska fisheries for over 20 years. The company has its headquarters in Seattle, US and also runs significant port logistics operations in Dutch Harbor, Alaska including, fishing vessel service, stevedoring, and a cold storage.
Turnover is approximately five to six million USD annually. EBITDA is approximately 350 to 400 thousand USD annually. The purchase will be financed by Eimskip’s equity. PTI will belong to Eimskip Americas, run by the CEO, Mr. Reynir Gíslason. Mr. Alan Peterson, the former owner of PTI Inc., will be managing director of PTI.
Mr. Peterson has over 20 yers experience in frozen fish stevedoring, cold stores, trucking and logistis in remote Alaska. PTI has been transporting about 35,000 metric tons of fish from Alaska to Asia each year, but the volume is expected to increase to 45,000 metric tons next year.
Total volume in transportation in Alaska each year is about 2.5 million tons. The acquisition will strengthen Eimskip’s position in Alaska, i.e. with further development of coldstores and modern logistics in Dutch Harbour and China Hub tramper service to Europe and Asia. The plan is also to connect Alaska and the Northwest USA to Eimskip’s worldwide freight forwarding , NVOCC, cold storage and logistics network.
